After only seeing each other for 90 out of 750 days, active duty Army soldiers John and Catherine Schmanski were finally stationed together in Hinesville, Georgia, but they will be traveling to New York for their wedding on 11-11-11. John and Catherine have both served two tours of duty in Afghanistan, and were legally married before their last tour, but only a few friends could make it.
On July 4 the couple found out they won the first-ever Brecknock Hall Veterans Day Giveback, made possible by Peconic Landing, a North Folk retirement community on Long Island. The wedding will take place at the historic Brecknock Hall, a 19th century stone mansion in Greenport, NY that was home to David Floyd, a grandson of William Floyd, a signer of the Declaration of Independence. The gorgeous venue is nestled in the "East End" of Long Island, amidst the island's wine country, home to over 40 wineries, farmland vistas, stunning beaches and picturesque lighthouses.
