Barbara and Dave met at the Yale New Haven Hospital while taking a class to practice suturing. Both being resident doctors, Barbara caught Dave's eye. He suggested they attend a Yale football game together, but didn't realize until later that there wasn't a home game for a couple of weeks. Unable to wait that long for their first date, they both decided that the Sleeping Giant State Park was their next choice. After packing a picnic lunch and a cozy blanket, the two set off for the day and it was then that sparks flew. "I called a friend on my drive home and told her I met the man I was going to marry" says Barbara.

Barbara grew up in Southampton and spending her days in the East End always brought back warm memories. On rare weekends off from being resident doctors, Barbara and Dave would escape from the hectic New York City life to spend time at Barbara's parents house, walking along the deserted Southampton beaches and pumpkin-picking in the North Fork.

One crisp December night, Barbara and Dave built a fire on the beach and made s'mores - a custom to Hamptons life. While they ate, Dave told Barbara that he had something special to give her. He handed her a beautiful princess cut ring and asked her to be his wife. As the light from their faire danced across their faced, Barbara accepted. The two were so happily in love taking pictures on the beach, then calling friends and family and telling the great news. They all met at Almond, a restaurant in Bridgehampton, to celebrate.

The big day finally came in autumn of next year. Barbara and Dave wanted their guests to experience the beauty of Southampton in the fall. "Our friends and family would spend the whole weekend exploring the area we love, enjoying a slice of autumn in the Hamptons and fall in love with it as much as we do" says Barbara. Their big day had fun filled activities for the guests including a game of touch football.

They also walked around the town enjoying each other's company. In the beginning months of their relationship Dave's sentimental side came out when he played, "I've Just Seen a Face" by the Beatles. This memory held a special place in Barbara's heart and she she decided it was the perfect song to walk down the aisle to, played by an elegant string trio. The ceremony had a personal touch, especially when Barbara's college roommate Rebecca officiated the ceremony, "She truly spoke from her heart," says Barbara. The reception was filled with giddy laughter and excitement from the bride, groom, and the guests. During dessert Barbara asked the caterer to serve s'mores and that instantly brought Dave and her back to the engagement night.

Barbara added a sweet touch to the wedding cake that had Dave's family laughing. Dave has an obsession for golf - trying to get in a round any time he has off. Barbara decided to surprise Dave with a porcelain golfing groom wedding topper with a matching bride. The figures matched them perfectly, even the color of their hair, Barbara and Dave now have the two figures on their book shelf hoping to make it a family heirloom. Both of their families loved the figures and thought they were hysterical. As the night came to an end and family and friends said congratulations one more time before heading home, Barbara couldn't help but feel like like she was on top of the world with Dave now by her side.
