Elizabeth was not expecting to find the love of her life going into her first year of medical school. She had met Alban in school and finally after a difficult exam, they grabbed dinner. When Elizabeth's roommates decided to have a party and Alban didn't show up at first, she pretended not to be upset, but secretly she was disappointed at his absence. To her surprise and relief, he showed up later in the evening, and it was then that they decided it was time to for them to go on a date. Soon after, they were inseparable.
One morning after a long shift at the hospital, Alban woke Elizabeth up to go for a walk because it was a beautiful day. Alban prepared a picnic on a secluded beach in Southampton and before Elizabeth knew it, Alan got down to one knee and asked Elizabeth to be his wife. Of course, she accepted.
Elizabeth and Alban spent many summers relaxing on the beaches and exploring the wineries, farms and shops of the East End. Alban grew up in Southampton, and they both agreed that it would be the perfect place for their wedding. Over the years, Elizabeth had fallen in love with Southampton and even started to collect old vintage post cards of the East End, her favorite being the beaches of South Fork. She decided to use the post cards as table numbers at their reception and even attached White Finger starfish to them for a little extra flair.
Elizabeth and Alban made sure to incorporate any personal and sentimental elements into their big day. Both of their grandmothers had given them their wedding bands from their own marriages, which made the ceremony even more special for everyone. "It was very special that they were both present to witness the exchange of rings using their bands," says Elizabeth. They both wanted to incorporate the local and seasonal ingredients and tailored the menu to do so At the reception, they had all local shellfish for their raw bar that ended up being a definite hit among their guests. Even the wine was from a local winery, Duck Walk Vineyards. Every aspect of the wedding defined Elizabeth and Alban's personality and love for one another. Alban had the rare opportunity to return to the place of after school job during high school: Tate's Bake Shop. He had taken Elizabeth there soon after they had met and they both loved the Marie Antoinette. For their wedding, they had it covered with purple and cream hydrangeas, Elizabeth's favorite flower.
Elizabeth and Alban were so in love on their wedding day, the entire event was amazingly joyful. Looking back, Elizabeth and Alban like to remember the quiet moment in which they both fell in love.
